Indianapolis, IN

Spring 2011

About

Like many cities, Indianapolis has inner city neighborhoods that need love. A neighborhood of last resort, St. Clair Place neighbors are ready to welcome 1 By Youth volunteers. You'll work together to bring the neighborhood back to being a neighborhood of choice. Once the heart of a thriving east side, St. Clair Place and the surrounding community suffered as 5,000 bread winning jobs were lost when the RCA factory stopped making vinyl records. Over the years, one by one families left the neighborhood in search of new opportunity. One by one, 1 By Youth volunteers will bring hope by demonstrating God's love through selfless service. We will paint, landscape and clean the neighborhood, block by block. St. Clair Place is the largest single neighborhood on the near east side of Indianapolis. That RCA factory is now home to a recycling center. As we clean up the neighborhood we will recycle more than aluminum cans, we will recycle lives through your demonstration of God's healing love.

How you’ll serve

You will become co-creators of a miraculous transformation of a whole neighborhood! The impact of your service will be a part of an effort that includes a full square mile community transformation through God's love.
